Anyone know the secret to getting the bolt out?

Open the bolt and pull it back. Pull the trigger while pulling, and on one I've seen, push the safety forward. That one was pretty worn out.

from rimfire central ,if youu google you get info and videos how ..To remove the bolt,

Move the safety to the 'fire' position, pull the trigger and remove the bolt to the rear.

To replace the bolt,

Place the bolt into the receiver, move the safety to the 'fire' position, pull the trigger and push the bolt forward into place.

The safety automatically resets to 'safe' when the bolt is pulled to the rear.Been awhile since i shot it but i think my old 80's savage 110 rifle bolt comes in and out the same way

Same way on the 512 I inherited from my grandfather. I think the only difference is that the 512 has a tube magazine instead of a box.

I have a 510X made in 12/1940. i have killed a truck load of critters with that rifle. It is the last 22 I would own. Old but still accurate.
