I sold my Kimber 1911 45 ACP a few years ago to buy a hunting rifle for my kids and now I find myself wanting another. So, how does the Fusion 1911's stack up against others?

Fusion's owner originally owned the Dan Wesson company, they know how to build pistols, but the QC at Fusion is reputed to leave a lot to be desired. I don't have any personal experience with them, but that's the word over on 1911forums.com and other sites. They are certainly priced right, so they aren't a bad deal, especially if you know how to work on them yourself. Most 1911s need a little tweaking, so that's not a dig at Fusion in particular. Colts need tweaking, too. Even Alchemy Arms has pistols returned for"adjustment".
You can roll a turd in peanuts, dip it in chocolate, and it still ain't no damn Baby Ruth.

Bangflop! another skinning job due to .260 and proper shot placement.

Good point although not a knock on Fusion. I owned a pre CZ Dan Wesson or two that were very nice and high quality pistols. That said, I bought a RIA on a whim after seeing one in a LGS. I’m real impressed with it for the price point and really in general.

I got one in 10mm commander length. Seems tight, good finish.

If you just want to try another 1911 a used Tisas, RIA or basic Springfield (Mil-spec aka 1911A1) are the way to go.
