I have heard that uppers for the 450BM are for the regular 223 AR15 lower. Is this right or do you need a special lower?

What other rounds can you use with the .223 AR-15 lower?

Here's a few: 50 Beowulf, Socom, WSSM's, 6.8 and any of it's wildcats such as the 6mm WO, any .223 wildcat. Basically any round that will fit in a .223 magazine.

Cool thanks, I will do some comparing. Looking harder at the 458 socom, looks like it could be cheaper and more versatile to reload.

The 458 is much more versitile to load for and to shoot. While the 450 Bushy is a nice round it's design is more for critical entry police work. The 458 Socom was designed to be more all around combat/hunting brush gun. While it would fill the bill as an entry carbine very well itr is more a short range carbine for use in heavy cover or from a stand. It uses real rifle bullets like what is used in the 45-70 and the 458 Win Mag.

Not to take any thing from the .452 diameter bulest but the are designed more for PISTOL velocity 900-1300 FPS the Socom rounds START at 1300 and that is ultra light loadings more like a 300 grn JHP at 1700 to 2100 FPS and 405 Grn JSP at 1600-800 FPS at least that is how I load mine. The 458 Upper can be had fror 650 to 950 depending on who you get it from. And what options you get on it. It will mount right on any Mil Spec AR lower. Just as the bushy will.

I am getting my 458 Socom upper built by Marty at Teppo Juttsu he is the designer of the round. I supplied the upper he is getting a barrel and bolt and doing the machine work the stripped uper needs ( enlarging of the ejection port ) I am expecting it back almost any time now. I just got a digital so i am intending to try posting some pics.
