Helping a guy clear out a massive warehouse in Midlothian, VA.

He has these...

Any idea what they are for?

[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]

They are made by Lenox... about 2" wide and about 8-9 TPI.

7,620 mm is 300 inches.

Just trying to sort out a value and help him sell. He has about 20 boxes of them.

Blades for a bandsaw mill ,use them for cutting logs into lumber ,depending on quality cost from 20 to 50 bucks or so each.

The TPI is more like 1/8" per tooth... seems far to modest.

The standard Woodmizer blade is 156"... or something like that.

300" would be a huge saw IMHO.

I am thinking some type of metal or plastic, but really have no idea.

The blades we uses on my WP last week were about 2 teeth per inch (i.e. a softwood blade). I am guessing a hardwood blade might be 3 or 4 TPI.

These blades are about 8 or 9 TPI... so I am thinking aluminum or plastics/resins.

300" is 24 feet of blade... maybe to help cool? I really have no idea.

Looked on Zoro for help... and they sell nothing this long.

Maybe these???

The TPI seems more -7/8 or 8/9... I need to check.

Called a "Bi-Metal".

Again... I have no idea.

They can be cut to whatever length and TIG welded together then carefully annealed at the weld with the TIG torch or a common propane torch to keep it from breaking. Use them on whatever saw you want.

Not ideal but if they’re free it might get some use out of them.

Copy that... the 2" width might preclude many saws... but I get the idea regardless.

They actually make a machine that you cut the plade square. butt-welds the blade, anneals it and you grind the blade and test it to make sure the weld fits through the saw guide. I've used a few bandsaw that the welder was part of the saw... wink

True story. I was required to use a worn out miserable old one for score in trade school. Haven’t been anywhere that intentionally didn’t order proper sized blades since. But have had occasion when in a jam to make one work where it wasn’t originally intended.

I suppose a guy with 20ct 300” bandsaw blades could make a truckload of very nice woodworking scrapers. 😁

We were required to allow millwrights to use our bandsaw in the machine shop. They'd fųck up the blade by cutting sheet metal with a 7/8 blade installed in the saw. We bought blades in a bulk spool, I'd take the bad blade out of the saw, cut it up and toss it. When I made a new blade I'd take it out of the saw, lock it up I'm my cabinet when I was done using the saw. 😁

Took about 20 boxes of the blades home with me yesterday.

If anyone (in Virginia) want to try a couple... please let me know.

I WILL NOT SHIP... PLEASE DO NOT ASK!

*Edit... The correct length is 300" or 25 feet. I had been unclear in the above commentary regarding length.

I suspect it is related to that case of Apricot Brandy I recently acquired.

Sorry... Not sorry.
