Any owners out there? I have two, one in 30 Rem, the other a 35. Nice old rifles.

I dont have one but a friend does. As I understand it, this was the 1st sporting rifle made by remington. It's derived from the US 1917 endfield. I didn't realize they came anything other than 3006, that's interesting. What other calibers were available?

They were also chambered in 25 and 32 Remington.

And later in the production run in 257 Roberts and 7x57 too.

The Model 1934 was a military version of the Model 30 that was sold to Honduras in 7x57. They were even factory D&T for a receiver sight with the holes plugged.

There were also a half dozen non-catalogued chamberings. And the 30s "morphed" into 720s.

if your talking 30 express i have one that is custom with a 257 Roberts Brux barrel now on it and it is a real good shooter.

I have been looking for one for a long while, it is the rare 9x57 chambering. I had a beautiful 35 rem in my hands once but I had to work late and when I went back it was gone and yes I am still mad at my boss !

I have a nice late production 30/06 with the Whelen design stock, bolt guide rib, and Redfield receiver sight. It is a very well balanced rifle, as smooth or smoother than any Pre64 M70 with a better stock design.

Picked this one up at a pawn shop last year. Douglas barrel, custom wood with lots of figure. Couldn't pass it up.

That’s a dandy. Do you have the slide for the Lyman receiver sight? Would be a shame to scope it.

I had a later model in .257 Roberts, very nice rifle.

Yeah, I got a beat up 30 Express in of course .30-06. I like the original stock style, thin wrist...schnable fore end. Fortunately, the metal and bore is well maintained...but the wood shows a life in the outdoors. It is consistently one of the most accurate rifles I have ever owned...I use it as the final test on scopes that I have lost confidence. If anyone ever made a better cold weather safety, I've never seen it.

Talked them down to $600 out the door.

I had to scope it, because there isn't a front sight. When they put on the new barrel he went without irons. I had an older Denver, CO. made Redfield that fit the age nicely with a Redfield one piece mount and a leather GI style sling.

Still on the hunt for one in original condition with the peep sight too. The custom is nice, but something about the originals is sweet too.

I have one in 30-06. It's nice but not as nice as the ones pictured here.

Remington's are not very interesting to me in general, but I have a soft spot for the model 30. I bought my first one, a 30 Express, when I was 14 years old. Ran away from home when I was 16 and took it with me. We ended up in Alaska. Gave it away to a friend when I was in my 20's and hope to get it re-gifted to me when he is done with it. He generously lets me shoot it now and again. Being young and dumb, I refinished the stock and removed the original front sight and had a sexy ramp installed. Been trying to find an original front sight ever since to replace my boo boo. Can't do anything about the stock, however. As to the comment "THEKID" made about it being smoother than a model 70, mine was anything but. Sticky and hard to retract the bolt. My guess is that the extractor got slightly bowed.
