Get students off their ass from behind a desk, and on their feet. Allow them to get their hands dirty. For me, it makes all the difference.

That method worked for me for 30-something years, teaching several skilled trades. Ignorance can be fixed. Stupid is forever!

The ones who really stand out are the ones who showed a real interest in me and taught me how to learn. Not a real member - just an ordinary guy who appreciates being able to hang around and say something once in awhile. Happily Trapped In the Past (Thanks, Joe) Not only a less than minimally educated person, but stupid and out of touch as well.
