Yesterday, Scooch my Airedale got some serious work in. A buddy of mine and I set out for pigeons and Eurasian Dove. Started a little slow, we shot some Eurasians and then jumped some abandoned buildings and were sitting at 5 dove and 5 pigeons. Some simple retrieves for Scooch.

We then set up a couple of spinners in an open field near a cattle feed lot and the fun really began. The ranchers were moving some critters around, so they kept the birds in the air for us and boy howdy they were working into the spinner on a string. We ended the day with something like 57 pigeons and 5 or 6 Eurasian dove. Scooch was a little overwhelmed with birds falling left and right, something she hasn't really experienced. She would be on a 50 or 60 yard retrieve and more birds would be dropping, so she definitely had a hard time deciding what to do. So, to help her, we stopped shooting while she was actively bringing a bird back. But over all she knocked it out of the park. She had a solid 25-30 retrieves before she got hot and tired. So, Mike brought his GSP's out. It was an awesome time had by all, and the most fun I've had with pants on in a long time!

I did run out of ammo! But I also ran out of time! I work nights so I needed to head home and get to sleep. My dog eats raw so I cleaned about 15 of them to feed to her. The rest will probably end up in the trash but we have plans in the future to do it again!

I have eaten pigeons and the Euro doves. Nothing wrong with them.

Looks like alot of fun Casey!

We hammered 53 last fall. Dogs had a blast! We eat them too.

Breast them out. Cook the breast so it is pink in middle the same way duck breast is cooked. No liver taste. Could brine the meat if you desire.

It was an awesome time, but even more so I enjoyed watching my dog get some serious work in. I was slightly undergunned, using 7.5's from my 20 gauge. There were several that sailed on us 60-100 yards. She brought every single one back to hand and it was awesome to watch. Needless to say, she slept like a rock after she got some water and food at home. She grabbed her ball, and curled up on her bed.
