The last generation to collect SS. It will be insolvent before I collect a dime of the hundreds of thousands I've put in.

It's OK, never planned on it being there anyway.

I was born in 1958. It always felt like the party was just over as I was growing up. In retrospect, I was on the crest of the wave.

I'm now 65. I have no clue what being a "Boomer" means, and I really feel lumped in with a lot of folks who were into things I wasn't. I resented being packed into overstuffed classrooms. I resented the whole world seemed to be turning for people about 10 years older than me. I resented coming out of high school and paying the bills for the debts they ran up.

What I will say is "Boomer" seems to be a way a GenX, GenY or GenZ turd can narcissistically minimize their lack of world experience while puffing up their own worth.

Back when I was in my mid-30s, the frozen cheeseburger factory hired a new guy who was in his early 20s. He was supposedly some hot new database wiz. This was the first time, I'd ever faced being dismissed as old news. The problem was they were paying me gobs and paying him next to nothing. He spent every moment of face time knocking me to my face or knocking me in front of the boss. I was doing a good job. I was getting decent raises. This went on for about 6 months, and at the first opportunity, I got laid off with a decent severance. The Boy Wonder lasted 2 weeks with my job to take over. He folded under the stress and walked out. About halfway through my unemployment, they called me back in to fix some major SNAFU in the code he'd written. I went back and worked a half-day for free-- I was getting paid already by the state. He ended up being a long line of younger men that tried that sort of thing. They were usually my cue to pack up and leave for more money somewhere else.

I spent 40+ years in IT. I learned on the shoulders of giants. From my second job out of college, it has taken 2-3 people to do the job I was doing after I leave. The same is true of my wife, who spent 25 years at a local hospital as a secretary and office manager. Our parents were the "Greatest Generation." We came of age in a glut of humanity and had to work faster, better, cheaper to compete with the horde all around us.

Boomer? Yeah, go ahead and call me one. What you don't understand is that I've seen you coming. I'm already sizing you up for how you'll fit on a spit. Telling you to stay off my lawn is a warning for your own good, not mine.

Get that money while you can. We have paid into it our entire lives. I want my chit back. Unfortunately, I probably will never see a dime because by the time Im there in age, there wont be anything to collect lol

I will start collecting this year and the fact I waited until forced to do so, it amounts to over one thousand more dollars/month. Either way I'm screwed because I still work, pay into SS AND FORCED to pay and use Medicare (even though I was promised FREE healthcare for life when I joined the Navy) and at a premium. I can't hide any more money in a 401 or my wife's IRA so I'll have to pay even more taxes, you know to pay for all the Gen Zers and millenials on welfare..

So you must be aware that the SS entitlement pays out much more than they paid in.

I'm the last year of Boomer so I can't be really blamed for Boomering........

BTW, Crotchety is a sign of watching society fuqk themselves in the ass time after time and then have to listen to them complain about their ass being sore........

Work harder, boomers, that 'single' illegal Guatemalan woman and her sprogs need their unearned Social Security payments. And that allegedly single man living with her is her husband from Guatemala.
