Colorado braces for a "beast" of a snowstorm slated to hit Wednesday

A mega March snowstorm is headed straight for the Front Range starting Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS forecast office in Boulder increased the projected snowfall amounts on Tuesday to between 9 and 18 inches across the Denver metro area.

Travel will be "difficult if not impossible" from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday, with the snow not ending until Friday morning,

A frontal zone draped across the Plains will combine with a low pressure area over the Four Corners region to draw a flow of moist air westward toward Denver and the Rockies, dumping heavy snow for more than 36 hours in some locations.

"This is the big one," 9News meteorologist Chris Bianchi shared on X. "This is a beast of a storm," he added.

This incoming storm could rival the one that hit Denver in 2021, when the official total was 27.1 inches, ranking as the fourth-largest recorded since 1882, Fox31 reports.

"The Beast" expected to strike about 6:00 PM Wednesday.

Thank you for the cut and paste...

Will boomers in Iowa also die?

I am guessing more water for the Colorado River when it melts? How’s the snowpack this year?

Uhh, the Denver side of the Rockies drains East. Unfortunately that won’t help the Colorado River.

Thats a joke. Seriously, 9-18 inches?
On my first St Pats day in the US, in 2003, while living about 40miles outside Denver off I- 285 we got my first experience with snow.

My Dodge Ram dissappeared, completely covered. We were trapped in the house (2 story log cabin) 6 days before we shoveled ourselves out. Denver was closed down for days and got the priority for snow plough usage which is fine, but outlining areas were coping on their own.

Quite an experience for an Aussie where snow is just another word in a dictionary.

You're right. And if it was you the other day saying that, you were right then, too. You can't "cut" from a printed article.

On iOS both will work for the links.

But you’re correct; for the articles it doesn’t.

18 inches? What a horror!

I lived in Steamboat Springs one winter, we got an 18 inch snowfall once a month. It made people happy.

Can’t be enough snow made to bury then clean out what was once the cool city of Denver.

Meteorologists use cool descriptions to try to draw readers in. In works well on stupid people. It's going to snow in Colorado in March. Yeah, that rarely happens.
