well lookie here! https://www.theblaze.com/news/oakland-business-owners-boycott-taxesA few people had some brain cells touch each other. Now if they can ORGANIZE and get some large numbers of former tax-payers to all pull together, they can actually take control back from those that intend to do them harm. But they have to have skin in the game. Will they win? If they gain the number and have courage 100%, absolutely, Yes!If they don't gain any numbers and are surrounded by cowards, then no, -- they can't. Freedom is NOT free and it's not "someone else" that owes it to us. "We the People" actually means We the People.

It’s never not funny when a Californian complains about something they voted for yesterday and would vote for it again tomorrow. Mental disorder and all that.

If they have a few more active brain cells (not likely in commiefornia) they will park those tax dollars into an interest-bearing account and make a few bucks on them while the fight is going on. That will also help cover the interest and penalties that are bound to accrue over late payment. They're going to pay up eventually, so they need to make some money on the escrowed funds in the meantime.
Ignorance can be fixed. Stupid is forever!

A person might withhold local taxes, for a while at least, but I had a friend who refused to pay income tax...he ended up doing 40 months at McNeil Island, plus the interest and penalties kept him bankrupt until death. He was just an self employed welder who bartered for much of his labor. Apparently, he was a threat to the US, apple pie and baseball.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

Refusing to pay the taxman never ends well. The government will put more into collecting taxes than anything else.

These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.

szihn: My advice (based on 30 years of close observations of what 'tax collectors can and WILL do!) is DO NOT phhuck with the tax man! If you do or try to your misery fest will start immediately and never end. Only POSSIBLE alternative to folks who disagree with their tax burdens is to be more careful who they vote into office. Notice I said POSSIBLE solution to being overly/unduly taxed is through the ballot box and I see NO taxes being eradicated or diminished any time soon. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy
