Think my barber charges $8.00 for a ‘Senior’ haircut. I always give him 25 bucks.

I like to leave a $2 bill for a tip on $150 meals...kids just don't see a Jefferson looking up at them anymore, really makes their day more than 20%. If the service was exceptional I'll toss 'em a half dollar on top!

But she still cuts my hair the way I like it.

I give her a tip...

Now that I’m back in the south, I got a big box of them business cards with verses on them.

Is there a greater tip than the word of Jesus?

Nay, brothers. There is not.

Last Barber shop was in the 80’s . I was in high School, his walls were papered in porn. I got a hair cut and shave, never went back.
Try to tip well but am getting tired of the places the places that expect it for little to no service. Some try to guilt you into it. Beggars!!!

One of the dudes says he'll do it. He's all bidness asking me chit I aint got no clue about. Fade this. Layer that.

3 on the side about an inch and a half on top is all I know to tell him.

Started chatting him up. 19 years old! Commutes from Willows every day! (45 min)

He got out the straight razor and I quit talking. LOL

Said he's been cutting hair for 8 years!

Sure beat listening to the last gal talking about doing coke with her boyfriend all weekend.

You don't find too many go getters like that anymore and I made sure to tell him loud enough his buddies could hear me.

You guys leave big tips?

And yeah, getting my hairs cut is big doings around here! LOL

One of many reasons I haven't seen the inside of a barber shop in 40+ years wink

Tipping is an idiotic custom.

Higginez;
Good evening my friend, I hope the day behaved and you and your fine family are well.

Thanks for the thread, the memories and the chuckles it's provided.

For me getting my hair cut is a distant memory. I asked our eldest daughter this past weekend if she ever remembers me having hair....

No Higginez, she doesn't and honestly I believe it was mostly gone - I mean other than under my nose - but you take my meaning.

Regarding tipping though, we do tip when we eat out for sure.

Both of our daughters worked for a bit serving food and beverages and appreciated some extra take home cash very much.

I will admit to adding it to the credit card total most of the time these days, partially because it's easier and partially to ensure the tip gets shared with the kitchen staff.....

But yah, my wife and I figure if we can afford to eat out and the food is decent and the server tries, it's not going to send us into poverty to tip reasonably well, so we do.

All the best.

Dwayne

We never got tips back in the 40s

I reckon a nice shiny .50 cent piece is a good tip for a strapping young person.

I’ve got a john wayne movie to watch the 23rd time since my brain is becomming styrofoam it’s all new to me. Yeeeeehawwww!!!

I've got a couple of favorite waitresses that are stringle working mothers who always get at least a $20 bill, no matter what. Even if it's just for a $6 BBQ sandwich. If it's dinner out with friends, they get a lot more.
