I pulled an 8# container of Varget off my shelf yesterday doing some reloading and the price tag attached to the top was $185.00. Compare that to today's prices......if you can even find it to make a purchase!

Saw a similar jug in Cabela’s for $399 last week. That’s up over 200%!

Back in the old days, ammo was cheap.





And not too long ago....




Heck, this stuff was free!

Natchezss had Remington 9-1/2 LR magnum primers the other day.

1,000 total price $176 .
I'll stick to just shooting a few rounds per year until things get better.

No large rifle primers to be found

No shortage of small and large pistol primers and small rifle primers.

It’s because the value of your money is in the tank. It’s a ripoff all right, but it’s not on the part of the people selling the stuff, it’s on the part of the politicians who’ve ripped off the nation’s wealth to the point the money’s becoming worthless.

I saw avocados for over $3.00 each the other day for the small ones. The big smooth skinned ones were over $4.00 each.

It’s just a clever way they have of effectively taking half your income and getting you to blame retailers, wholesalers etc.

It's actually cheaper for me to buy a box of factory ammo that attempt to gather up components! ......IF you can FIND the components! 😖

Ammo shortages and subsequent price increases happen in war time. Those countries in Europe that are not at war are preparing for war and building ammo inventories. It was some time after WWII before my Dad was able to buy ammo for hunting. My Grandpa killed deer in the garden with paper shotshells that he cut around the wad area so the entire front half of the cartridge fired like a slug. Very effective!

1lb powder up here runs 47$ to over $60, plenty of SRP, SPP around at about $90 p 1k but like all other places LRP are not found.
Prices won't be going down, so don't plan on that.

LGS here in Athens TX has Fiocchi LRP in a 1500 count box for $133. I hate to pay that much for primers but the price is never going to come down so I will bite the bullet and get them. I like having a couple thousand LRP and LRP Mag on hand and I am down to about 1100 LRP. Anybody thinking the price is going to come down to pre Obama levels is a fool. It isn't gonna happen. Get stuff when you can find it if you need it because it is only going to get worse.

Paid 69.99 a k for Fed 7.5 BR primers last weekend.

Most all other primers on the shelf were in that 100/k area.

Yeah, it's perplexing – prices on all goods and services continue to decline but powder is the one thing that's skyrocketed.

I don’t think retailers are making a killing off this stuff, except that if they maintain their profit margin on something with a higher cost to them, just like with oil, they will make a bit more, but then how much more are they paying to keep the lights on and in employee costs? Everything, at every level, costs more, and I don’t see any goods and services going down, none I’m buying anyway. Jumbo eggs are back up to $3.70, twice what they were a few years ago. For the first time ever, this year I had to start paying part of the cost of my wife’s health insurance because the price now exceeds the contract limit.

When the gummint starts bragging about inflation coming down, aside from the basic lie that is, they ignore the fact that we’re still stuck paying the increased prices resulting from the previous inflation. Like interest, inflation compounds.

If it comes to it, I’ll pay what it costs to keep shooting. I drive old vehicles, have old phones, don’t eat out, don’t gamble, don’t travel; but I shoot as much as I want.

I’m glad I stocked up a bit.

.22 rimfire is for keeping your shooting skills sharp. You don't need to shoot a lot of centerfire to do that.
