Here’s a link to a mini documentary on the “Bloody 100th”. A good companion view if you’ve been watching Masters of the Air . Which has also been very good . Hard to believe “Rosie” crew flew 52 missions.

I'm reading the book right now...I've read history of the 8th Air Force, since I was about 12 y/o when I lived over in England from 63 to 66. Live right in the middle of many of the bases mentioned in the book. Attended school for 3 years at RAF Molesworth, home of the 303rd BG during the war.

The book is probably the most hard hitting book I've ever read on the 8th AF and the air war in Europe, particularly from the bomber force perspective.

Been busy but need to check into getting Apple TV for a brief time, just to see the series.

The average life span of a B 17 in 1943, bound for the 8th AF.. from the time it was accepted at the factory by the USAAF, sent to a modification center if needed, sent to Europe and was assigned to a unit, and to the time it went down in combat or was destroyed coming back after being shot to ribbons and scrapped was only SEVEN WEEKS.

Morale in the 8th AF wasn't really very high at all. Maybe it was in the book, but the 8th AF in England, lost more people's lives in 1943, then the Entire USMC lost in all of WW 2.
