Our CO govner wants to sign a bill that would restrict some rifles from us good guys. He inspired me to look at getting one. The 307 alpine mdt looks like an" assault rifle" with its pistol grip and folding stock. I need one in 6.5 rpm. Gotta round up some dollars.

I'm a big fan of the traditional fancy walnut stocked Weatherby Mark V rifle stocks. I do have several plastic stocked rifles, including 3 Weatherby Vanguards, but they still have the traditional looking stocks. I think that the new Weatherby 370 just looks ugly!

.
I don't think they had the traditional Weatherby owner in mind when they designed the Model 307.
With the Mark V and Howa actions, Weatherby was on the sidelines in regards to the custom rifle industry.
Now with the Model 307 and its M700 footprint they are in the custom rifle game as Weatherby is selling the Model 307 action as a component.
Time will tell on how the Model 307 does in the custom market. The price point is competitive.

When I do the once in a lifetime sheep hunt it was gonna be with my Ruger #1 270, wood and blue. I can now picture folding my only bolt gun, putting it in back pack and climbing. A longer and faster 130g bullet.

I agree that it’s competitive in the 700 foot print for a custom rifle. I also think the Alpine is interesting with the folding stock. It definitely has a purpose for someone wanting to put their rifle in their back pack. I think it will do well. I’m like their Mark V’s in the 6.5 RPM.
