It's funny to hear all the boomers talk about paying in since the 60's and 70's. Then blaming the politicians since then for raiding it and then mock the workers now who are funding their SS checks.

You didn't stop it the last 5 decades, you let it happen and didn't start complaining until recent years. And us workers that are paying in now so you can get it, guess what? We're not going to get anything when we get to retirement age because it won't exist or be so diluted it'll be $100 a month. With still rampant inflation.

You're right, none of you did anything to cause it directly. But you sure as hell didn't do anything to prevent it while you watched it happening. You had it easy, cheaper cost of living and opportunities galore for someone who wanted to work. Homes appreciated steadily building your wealth so you could leverage it to buy more houses for vacation or to rent for more money. .

Now a days housing is so expensive and blackrock owns most of them, bought from boomers who only cared about top dollar more than anything before going into a home where they took it all anyway. Kids entering the workforce now basically have no chance to make it on their own. Record numbers of renters, record prices. It's all leading to financial slavery of the future generations. Completely made possible by the greed of boomers that don't care about anything but themselves. You all changed the model of the American dream because you couldn't have enough always wanted more. Gen X to Z studies have shown what matters most is family and happiness over material possessions. Boomers only care about material possessions and how much $$$ they can accumulate. If they thought about anything other than themselves and been proactive to protect the American dream we might still have it as an option. It's the boomer generation that let everything happen that we see today and where America is at. They saw it happen as it was happening back in the 60's and 70's when it was small. Thousands of posts here can attest to it, they all talk about when the country turned towards the bad. It was long before Gen X to current were even born. Yet now they bitch because we are magically supposed to fix it after it's grown to the beast it is now with a fraction of the resources.

And they still could care less. The only thing they care about is themselves. They've said as much on this thread even and act like it's a justification. They're still doing nothing but watch it happen and blaming others, anyone but themselves.

I do resent that they were the main drivers of the 60's hippie movement. Which seemed to kick off environmental activism and the downfall of the classical family unit in our society. Among many other trainwrecks.

Now they stand around and shake their fists at the subsequent generations as if they didn't kick the boulder of the cliff to begin with.

It has been my impression that LBJ's Great Society program was the seismic event that contributed to the downfall of the two parent classical/traditional family in the U.S. LBJ was born in 1908, 38 years before the beginning of the Baby Boomer Generation. The Baby Boomer Generation ran from 1946 thru 1964, so the oldest Boomers in the 1960s were between 14 and 24 years of age. Regardless of the era in American history, not many individuals between the ages of 14 and 24 have had much actual influence on national or world events.

Since nobody has any control over when they were born, holding any one individual accountable for the action of all of the people who were alive during his/her generation seems like a stretch to me.

There has to be a correction somewhere. Unfortunately, that can has been getting kicked down the road repeatedly since before I could ever vote and there's a machine running things that does not hear us.
