Western hunting mostly with this. Looking for a 30mm tube BDC reticle. This is a hunting rifle with longest shots to 600 yards. 80% of shots will be 250 yards or less. Ffp or sfp doesn't matter. Im looking at swarovski z3 or z5 with BRH reticle or Steiner Predator 4. Possibly Maven. Any other scopes you guys recommend?

I have a NF NXS 2.5-10x42 MOAR and have only shot one animal at 300 yds.

Nightforce SHV 3-10. Or the NXS 2.5-10 if you can spare some more coin and want a few more features. Both are best in class for exactly what you describe. Next choice would probably be a Trijicon Credo 2.5-15x44 or Tenmile 3-18x44, depending on reticle and SFP/ffp preference.

Tract Optics makes some good scopes with BDC reticles. My experience is with the one inch Toric models but they also make them in 30 mm.

I just put a Steiner Predator 4 on my 7mm-08. So far, so good. Love the reticle. Illumination is also nice.

Find a used MeoPro 4-12 or 4.5-14 with their BDC.

+1 on the 4.5-14. Don't discount the Cabela's Instinct Euro model if you can find one. The parallax adj is great and the size of the reticle is perfect IMO.

That would be my question. Say, compared to the Burris FFII ballistic plex. The Burris is great out to 500 yards, as tested on my rifles. From 5-600 is where the Burris isn't going to work, as per your requirements to get you out to 600 yards.

One I've used that would do it, and it's a fairly lightweight scope and tracks very well is the Zeiss V4 4-16x44. The glass wasn't great to my eyes, but other guys argue about that. I'm used to my Nightforce scopes though, and my cheap Burris FFII 3-9x40 with ballistic plex reticles.
For something like a lightweight 7mm-08 hunting rifle, I'd probably lean toward the V4, personally. Especially if you are planning on shooting out to and past 600 yards. They have some nice drop compensating reticles, if you just want to use hold overs.

Others suggesting the SHV, may be on to something too, but as I understand it, the MOAR reticle is not very good on the SHV 3-10, and some guys complain about the eye relief of the 2.5-10. I haven't looked through one, so I can't confirm that though. I know I love my 5-20x56 SHV with the MOAR reticle, but it's too big for a standard hunting rifle.

Thanks guys for recommendations. The SHV is a little heavy at 30 ounces. It was my top pick. I will do some more comparing of scopes but may just go back to NF.

The 3-10 weighs 22 oz.

My immediate thought to the the thread was a Leupy 2.5-8.

Then I read the OP.

What is the rifle, scope weight limit?

You would not go wrong with the 3-10 SHV, 22.9 oz. I have one on my 22-250 and really like it. Going to get another for my 222. Scope has bounced between the two depending on my mood.

Trijicon Ascent 3-12, 17.8 oz
Trijicon Credo Hx 2.5-15x42, 22.9 oz.

Would be others I would look at.

Plenty of good suggestions so far, the SHV would be reliable. My 7mm has the Zeiss ConquestV4 in 4-16x50 with a hash mark reticle & illuminated. With their software & a day at a longer range you’ll be surprised how soon nailing 600 yard targets become routine.

I don't mind BDC scopes, used to love them and still have some scopes with it. I do like tract optics BDC.
But after using CDS or just dialing proper elevation. I feel much more comfortable shooting that far.
If you don't like leupold, there are companies that make custom turrets. Once you find your scopes and a load for your rifle ...That would be my recommendation, and won't limit your scope options.

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

I have a couple Vortex Vipers with BDC on my rifles. A couple of the older 3-9's and a couple of the newer 2.5-10's. The newer 2.5-10's are very solid scopes with good glass.

9 or 10 power max as you need to crank them up to max power to have the BDC work right.
