Anyone had a chance to use any 100gr V-Match for a Grendel? 100gr with a .448 BC, probably won’t have much problem going 2600 fps in a 20” Howa barrel. Built light for “vermin” applications, but at slower speeds like this, maybe a good deer bullet too. Hornady loads the same 100gr in the 6.5 Creedmoor, so that may be too fast there.

I have not used those but have used some Hornady interlock 100gr bullets in my 6.5 grendel and they shot the best... I have not had a chance to get to the range with them to put them on the crono but hopefully later this week I will... When I do I will get back with you... I do believe I should be in the 2600 fps range... I have an 18 in barrel in a radical AR...

You are referring to Hornady part# 2610. It looks to be discontinued. Sounds like a winner though, let me know how they do.

I went to the range today as I put a new scope on my Grendel... Again I am using an AR with a 16 inch barrel so keep that in mind. I am using BL-C2 powder and the 100 gr interlock (Discontinued)... I averaged 2428 FPS... I am using 30 grains of BL-c2 for the charge but could go higher... I just settled on this load and bullet because it shot very tiny groups... smile

All of that to say, with a 20 inch barrel and a bolt gun, I do not see you having any problems at all getting 2600... Alexander Arms has some load data but I understand that what they list is max loads (only one weight per powder listed). They have some powders and 100gr bullet combos over 2800 fps... I also understand they are using a 24 inch barrel bolt gun for their listed velocities...

Again, I am focused on group size and not velocities... this is the first load I shot through the chrono for the 6.5 Grendel and I had already settled on it due to the powder I had and the group size... (literally all touching making one hole at 100 yards - 3 shot groups)

hope that helps

2600fps is basically a magnum when you do 100% of your hunting at under 150 yards. I anticipate that the 123gr options will generate 2450 or thereabouts in a 20” barrel. I’m excited to get some seat time with her this fall.

I am getting a chronographed speed of 2661 out of a 22 inch Howa Mini Grendel using a 107 Sierra TMK bullet, with a rather mild loading. The 90 grain TNT runs at 2835 out of the same rifle, so I'd think a 100 grain bullet should easily eclipse 2600 fps.
