Nice post mill sight for a F or DL with correct #2 elevator $110 to your door I was shocked at how much plain old EG rear sights bring on ebay may have to start digging through boxes https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/galleries/19313659/rear-sight-sav-99

That style of sight was used starting in 1959 according to Murray. I have seen it on pre mil guns too.

So on E models or widely used?
Thanks for the info
I know the 110 used with a different elevator maybe that’s when the transition began?

I have seen the long flip-down on 99Fs from 1959 at 959xxx to as high in 1967 at 1,136,xxx. A DL at 1,184,xxx (1968) has the long flip-down also. 1,182,xxx1 99F 1969 has the short flip-down. None of the 99Es i have seen have a sight like the other Savage models, including those with pre-60 receivers.

My 1959 vintage EG, serial #9673xx has that sight. My 1958 EG has the earlier non-folding sight. The E's came with a cheap looking non-folding sight.

my E serial #9688xx has the cheap non-folding rear sight like the later E's. This must have been when it was first introduced.

Kieth Can you explain the short flip down sight? There are 2 lengths? He is talking about the flip down that sets right on top of the dovetail like a Lyman 16C. Savage used that style from several manufacturers.
