Doing my taxes and thinking how many days a year I work just to pay government taxes so I don’t go to jail or they take my house. My wife and myself worked about 45 days each just to pay federal, state, and property taxes so we don’t go to jail. Over two months of my life to support an unconstitutional government I don’t even like. That doesn’t include all the other taxes I pay like gas tax.

My wife works all year and doesn’t even make enough to pay our government debt.

True freedom.

Good timing for your post. I was thinking about starting something similar. According to my accountant I owe the feds another $4300 for 2023 taxes. I just lost my job on Tuesday and would sure prefer to keep that $4300 myself instead of giving it to our horrifically corrupt government which is just going to either give it to illegals or Ukraine. None too happy.

I paid taxes all year on my salary. My wife paid taxes all year on her salary. I paid taxes all year on my military pension. I Apr I will have the "honor" of sending the IRS a check for slightly over $2200. So I guess I pay taxes every single day.

A bunch. It would be depressing to add up all taxes I pay.

That being said, I would rather pay taxes than be a taker.

Sales tax, gas tax……, not sure how to classify licenses and permits.

Social Security/Medicare; A tax or a savings deposit? There’s a can of worms. Lots of monkey poop flying over in the Boomer/SS thread about that one.

Actually, being in business, I get paid last. I work into July to cover overhead. Taxes take up a few months more. I guess I can spend most of what comes in after that. Probably still some more hidden taxes get paid out of that too. 🤔

Property taxes suck, and insurance is as much or more than the property taxes.

No longer working. We will see how much of the Social Security we have to send back next year.

Pretty damned stupid to distribute it and then demand part of it back. That did not happen to my grandparents a few decades ago.

I can't believe Reagan signed this one.

Quote
The taxation of Social Security began in 1984 following passage of a set of Amendments in 1983, which were signed into law by President Reagan in April 1983. These amendments passed the Congress in 1983 on an overwhelmingly bi-partisan vote.

I did this calculation once. I worked until late summer to pay the commies before I got a cent to keep.
