I recently came across a Remington model 7 used at a tempting price. It is a stainless/synthetic in 7mm-08 for $399. I know some of the first model 7's came with 3 holes for scope bases and later changed to 4. This one already has a 1 piece base so I could not easily tell. I would prefere to use a 2 piece base, probably Talley's. I think this gun is new enough that I should be able to use 2 piece bases. Anyone know for sure.

Just to add, I have not bought the rifle, just thinking about it. I don't think I made that clear initially.

Most people don't really want the truth.

They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

Look at the rear receiver ring for one hole or two, it should answer your question. That is a good price.

Because of the one-piece base you will need to remove the bolt to check for the second screw, per supercrewd's advice. They are through holes in the rear bridge.

If it's a 3-hole, you can alway's drill & tap the fourth. Thats what I did..
