I'd have thought that Brazils would have been at the top of your list?

Peanuts and you can pretty much forget the rest, the tastes range from bitter to blah. Walnuts have the additional downside of being placed in such things as fudge and brownies, where they, along with the bits of shell that ALWAYS accompany them, lie in wait for old and brittle teeth.

Blasphemy. A cookie without good nuts is not worth eating.

Brazil nuts are very high in selenium. 1 nut gives you 5x your daily requirement. While Se is a required element in the body, too much can cause Se toxicity with kidney and heart problems. 5 or 6 nuts a day can put you in the risk catagory if you're already high in it.

Blasphemy. Nuts have no business in a proper chocolate chip cookie.

That's "puh-cahns"!
My fave is cashews.
Got 20 lbs of pecans in the freezer. Good year for pecans.

Pistachios
Cashews
Peanut
Walnut
pecan

Not always in that order and walnuts, or pecans are an absolute must in a chocolate chip cookie.

IF the almonds are squeaky, you got old nuts in your mouth.

Pistachios are my addiction.

Allergic to tree nuts.

Not like deathly allergic to them, just burn my throat for a couple of hours.

So I avoid them.

But can eat peanuts and peanut butter so I stick with that

pistachios
hazelnuts -- FRESH, FRESH, FRESH only. Preferably shook off the tree.
walnuts
pecan
cashews
Brazil (FRESH only -- hard to find).

Freshness is key in all of them, but some as noted more so. Nothing worse than rancid nuts.

Peanuts are ok, but my innards don't much care for them.
The rest falls in the category "meh".
