Interesting story. Point Reyes National Seashore is a pretty cool place to visit. The point that the lighthouse is at extends out into the coastline farther than any point nearby, and is a great place to see the migrating whales during the time they are passing by headed to Hawaii. There is also a good heard of Elk on the northern point of land between the ocean and Tomales bay.
I suspect, if the story is correct, Clint was taken to the coastguard training station near Valley Ford, or to the station at Doran park south of Bodega bay. We dry camped there about a month ago, every morning they fire up the boat and usually take a ride out of Bodega head.
Apparently the story is true, just not as represented in the video. For instance, Eastwood got tossed out of his raft while in the breakers, not a mile out. Still, if you’re not aware of how rips work, it’s amazingly easy to die while fighting one
And I can’t for the life of me figure why you’d be over the ocean to the west of Point Reyes, when the destination for that flight was Mather AFB, in Sacramento. That plane should have been on the ground already, not out of fuel over the Pacific.
