Depends on who or what is moderating the debate.

If it’s just another, FOX, CNN, MSNBC, sponsored debate, then it will be Trump against the Moderator first, and Kennedy second.

Trump should set all the parameters, otherwise decline.

I had not thought of that! Personally, I think it would be great for Trump, if he did his part, because if Biden avoids a debate, and there is no debate, it will look less pathetic than if Biden avoids debating, but a debate goes forward without him.

It also will look like RFK is not afraid of Trump, but Biden is. That could draw even more potential Biden voters to RFK, which would help Trump.

I doubt Biden participates in any debate, but a Trump / Kennedy would certainly hurt Bidens' campaign.

I don't see people who would vote for Trump suddenly switching to RFK but the more he can get RFK out there to pull voters from Biden and Biden refusing to debate would help that - the better. I don't see RFK getting enough to win regardless but if he can pull 3-6% from Biden in places like Michigan or Wisconsin - Trump should debate and both he and RFK should frame EVERYTHING with "The current admin, who wont be here tonight wants to do XXXX - we need to do YYYY for these reasons...."

And basically spend the entire debate blasting Biden who's not there - Trump doesn't lose or gain much - except RFK gains and he takes those gains from Biden which helps Trump. I can't imagine after all of this RFK prefers Biden over Trump.

It would totally marginalize the entire Biden regime. Particularly if they didn’t let Kamala play in the VP debate.

While it would benefit the D’s from the standpoint that neither Joe or Kamala are capable of debating, I think the “making them a non-factor” effect would be crushing. Deep down, even their supporters know they’re a “non-factor” right now, this would just drive the point home.

I do think the moderator needs to be carefully chosen. I also think that someone needs to tell DJ that he’s gonna have to DEBATE. A shouting match with a couple cute soundbites (“you’d be in jail”) ain’t gonna get it done with RFK Jr.
