We have Robins off and on all winter, no Meadowlarks yet. The daily freezing rain/snow is keeping the Hummingbirds away wink

meadowlarks have been coming back for last two weeks, the real indicator for spring is the arrival of our favorite, the vermillion flycatcher, pretty little sounofagun.

I seen the movie when I was a kid. Scared the Hell out of me. Alfred Hitchcock had a dark mind. Be careful what you wish for! In the movie the Birds pecked out the eyes! Off to do a job!

All sorts of flying critters have been returning. Turkey vultures maybe a week back, Actually had an American White Pelican on the local reservoir the other day.

Haven't seen a bluebird around the house yet, expect them soon as I've seen some around town and such. No tree or violet green swallows yet either.

Snow geese still coming north from wherever though. Good size flock came over, really high as this pic was at 4.5x on the phone cam and they still look far away. Must have been a few hundred, didn't even get the whole flock in

The next week or so we should get our first cattle egrets. I write it down every year when the first ones show up. The earliest ever was March 25 and the latest was April 7. They only eat live bait so they don't go for cold weather.

It's a good sign.

If some of the seeds I have planted as an experiment work out, I'll send you some juniper seedlings. 30 years or so, when they get a good berry crop, maybe the robins will hang around all winter like they do here. And you too can have juniper berry schiedt all over everthing in the yard.

Robbins showed up here about a week ago. The red winged black birds are going nuts here with their mating calls, a beautiful sound. !
