Been watching GB lately and 6 Remington Model 600s in 35 REM have sold in the last couple of months. A hard to find rifle and now they seem to be showing up often.

Owners are dying off and whoever inherits them would rather have a f*cking AR or Playstation...

And that’s a bad thing for the rest of us?

Also might be related to the near-total lack of availability of ammo and brass. I just checked five sites I commonly shop, and zero, zilch, nada, bupkis, none. Midway shows Federal coming soon. Apparently brass can be formed from .308, according to Mule Deer, but who wants to start right off with that problem?

Too bad really as it’s a good round, but sales must’ve really been down for literally everyone to go “seasonal” on it. Lots of rifles out there, but I guess the folks who own them don’t buy much, and straight-wall, which the .35 ain’t, must be dominating the woods-rifle market.

I like those old Remington bolt rifles, and I like the 35 Rem, but I'd prefer my Marlin 336 35 Rem. over the Remington.

They seem to have a bit of a cult following. Either you like the short barrel, or you don't. I started with a 660 and then went to a 673. Sold it to pay for a BLR in 358 Win. Sadly that now sits in the safe.

In my estimation you nailed it - the COVID panic buying spree, subsequent high volume only production, and more and more straight wall states/offerings will be the death blow for the 35 Rem.

The Hornady Superformance loads shoot excellent out of my 600 - I laid into several hundred rounds before they became REAL scarce. Now when I see them after a run comes out they hover over $50 a box compared to $30 - $35 I bought mine at over the years. Would like to secure another case or so, but not at current prices. Not used as a plinker so I have enough for hunting/confirming zero to last me until I'm done, would like to set my son up for life as well...

I’d buy a simple LEE LOADER kit in a heartbeat to make it easy to load pistol bullets for practice and play.......

Yeah...not interested in pistol bullet plinking loads.

I've got equipment squirreled away, dies for every chambering I own. Stashed some rainy day primers. Save all my brass. Consider it emergency only, last resort.


$43/lb LeveRevolution, $55/100 FTX, and $100/1000 FED 210s / WLR pencils out close to $2 per reloaded. Thats before any Hazmat shipping and figuring brass as free.


I'll continue to ration until deal or need arrises...not a real priority for the lowest volume (by far) rifle in the herd.

A guy could run a 358 Win reamer in those.

I’d trade my JM Marlin 35 Rem for a 600 Mohawk/660 35 Rem. I’d prefer one without the rib.

I got brass

Depends where you're at with things. I can load 35 Rem really cheap. While you were squirreling away factory ammo I was squirreling away $15-$30 per box bullets for 35 Rem and cheap primers at every chance. 1 box I got for free because I traded a partial can of powder that was given to me for that and 2 factory boxes of once fired 35 Rem brass.

Recently on the classifieds here I purchased 2 bags of new 358 Winchester brass, a RCBS 358W die set, a box of 180 Speer FP, and 200 bulk bag 200gr RN bullets that I immediately recognized as the Remington Core Lokt bullets, for $150 shipped.

I'll sell those 2 bags of brass and the die set locally for $100 easily. That will leave me with another 3 boxes of 35 Rem bullets for roughly $16 per box.

And open up the bolt face for larger rim diameter, too?

Both are .473. .358 Win is a 308 necked up.

I am a fan of the 358 but it would actually would lower the value of the Remington 600 chambered in 35 Rem to ream it out to 358 Win.
