Jim Conrad, It would be nice to hear from Scenar Shooter again, APDDSN0864 Ed to many letters is a Government Trapper currently working in West Texas, doing predator and pig control. Rio7 I talk to him, he told me he got tired of "the creeps" on 24. Don't blame him, earlyturd, never outdoors, Hastings, 12344minimag, Fibka, raeturd,...contribute nothing. Bunch of no hunting idiots. Good hunters tend stay in touch and he did well like he always does. He's a good egg, way too good for the creeps on this board.

Jim, trying to think but it's been about 5 years ago since they passed the $2/hd fee for us?
Thinking it varies by county? I'll have to ask my dad in the morning.
Again terrible memory but it was either last winter or the winter before I saw them flying the river bottom here.

Will he be required to use nontoxic bullets? After all that is what they want us to use.
We had a Fed Trapper move here about 7 years ago. Nights got quiter after that. He killed 500 coyotes in 5 months.

Is that tax $2 per head annually, or upon sale? How about the western part of the state, if ranchers are paying for predator control there should be expectation for control of bigger predators, too. Last time I hunted there, 2020, there were very few coyote tracks, but lots of wolf tracks. I am not sure about how it is collected. Probably goes off your state livestock tax.

What type govt hunter are you getting? County oriented, or USDA APHIS?
It makes a difference. He's federal.

I know the pilot. We talked quite a lot about the program the other day.
I never thought to ask him what the shooter uses. Probably a shotgun eh?
I might take some flying lessons from him this summer.
I will ask. I would guess a 12 ga Benelli Auto with an extended tube and buckshot.

What type govt hunter are you getting? County oriented, or USDA APHIS?
It makes a difference. He's federal. Hope they hire a good one! They are not known for hiring good hunters/trappers in recent years.

I met a guy here, that did that, wolves mostly. Choppers to horses & vis. A Rem bolt action on it's 3rd barrel & running an SWFA variable. Said the vibratory natures of a chopper would kill a scope about as quick as anything.
I really appreciated this guy telling me some of the details. What a job!
