Love the way the seller described it as “elegant”……not sure that is the word I would use…..

Aw, cmon guys - it's "elegant!"

When I first saw it I thought it might be a prop from the show "Survivor."

Brad;
Good evening to you sir, it's been far too long since I've said hello and I hope that you and yours have been well in the interim.

Thanks - well l think thanks are in order on some level surely - I mean that sort of qualifies for the, "just when you thought you'd seen everything" category does it not?

As a sometime hobby stock maker, I've done a couple different types just to see what they'd turn out like, a couple thumb hole stocks come to mind, but again that's in a separate sort of grouping.

Maybe one needs to be a Lord of the Rings fan?

Maybe a Lord of the Rings fan that drinks a little too much?

When making gun stocks?

Surely we're in a fairly small percentile of the population at that point Brad.

Perhaps we should be thankful for that and leave it there.

All the best to you all this Easter.

Dwayne

Good evening Dwayne, and Happy Easter to you and yours!

One thing I can say is I was touched by the sincerity he displayed describing his work - of course many delusional people are quite sincere. Oh well, trying to be positive in some way didn’t end well for me this time laugh

Ya' know, I've seen a few stocks, and even made a few, but I can honestly say I've not seen one quite like that. A person can't help but have a visceral reaction to artistry like that. As it happens, I've kind of been looking for a decent pre-64 stock, but I can tell, that's reaching too high for a country boy like me. GD

OMG!! I saw a pre 64 model 70 stock today, that was unusual. It was in a $10 bin. I should have bought it.. It was damn beautiful, compared to this one!!!

Similar to what Dwayne mentioned, the subset of potential buyers who:
A: Want to restock their Post '64
B: Are huge Lord of the Rings fans
and C: Are drunk enough to pay $500 for this..."artwork"
are likely a rather limited niche market.

If it were more like $50 I would totally buy it as a gag gift. Perhaps I could bed a rifle for a buddy, then bolt it into this stock and upon return note that I had added some custom touches. Then be sure to film the look on their face when presented with the resulting atrocity. cry

You could use that to make one fine elk rifle!
