Looking for a break action single shot like the old H&R or NEF is a 22 center fire. Ideally a 22 Hornet. I’m looking for a trap line gun that will double as a truck gun for coyotes, coons and such. I’d even do a 22 mag.

I’d look for a used TC contender, if you’re stuck on a break action.

I would also look for a Savage 219 in 22 H. You can find some nice examples of them at a reasonable price. However, they have 26" barrels, so I'm guessing the Contender would be better for a trap line gun. I have a rough 219 in 30-30 that I had the barrel taken down to 20", so if you found a great deal you could go that path too.

Thanks. I wish H&R or NEF were still around. I had several shotguns a 22 and a 17 HMR once upon a time ago. Simple and accurate. It’s a shame that they went out of business.

It might be easier to find a cheaper shotgun barrel these days and use an insert. Let me know if you need a NEF 20ga barrel. I have an extra one.
