That little Ithaca/SKB is certainly the class of the field. An honest-to-goodness rabbit hunt with dogs that were meant for it looks like a lot of fun.
We've flushed hundreds maybe thousands of rabbits while upland bird hunting, very rarely do we shoot them as we DON'T want the dogs to chase them and flush birds we're actually pursuing in the process.
Real rabbits are a lot easier for me to hit than those devil discs they roll along the ground at sporting-clays courses.
I can walk on water.......................but I do stagger a bit on alcohol.

Thanks, gents. We had a fun hunt. We were about 200 miles north into the Pine Tree state, between Skowhegan and Sugarloaf mountain. Conditions were fairly poor, with winds gusting to 40+ and heavy snow (about 2 feet) from the prior week. The killing was pretty slim but lots of fun was had in the big north country. As was mentioned, it is indeed some genuine Americana. Bob has been running the lodge for 50 years and they offer guided moose, bear, coyote, deer, turkey, bobcat (I think), ducks and buns as well as fish. His son Wyatt will be taking over the operation soon. A more down to Earth, patriotic family and kind staff would be hard to find. The family takes out up to 300 vets a year at no cost to the hunters, some with suffered grievous injuries in combat/while in service. They do the same kinds of programs first responders, EMT, Fire and LEO. They have special rigs they build to be hauled on or behind ORVs and snowmachines to take out those in wheelchairs and have other mobility issues and do the same for the abundant fisheries they have there. I'm not a huge talent at snowshoeing, so I tended to stay on the tote roads. Too much exertion is not really my thing on hunts like these. As evidenced by my napping in the snow and in the sled. The boys and our hosts were impressed with my talent at slumber and there are said to be a few other shots of me unconscious. One of the buns I killed while lying down. The bawls of the beagles had awakened me and I opened an eye only to see one trying to slip by me ahead of the dogs. The little SKB/Ithaca made short work of him. And yes, that 20 ga is a joy to carry and shoots well for me. Bought it here on the classifieds a few years back, actually. Hope everyone had a great Easter, and thanks again for the comments. Turkeys, fresh and salt fishing on deck. The hunting/fishing cycle of seasons never really ends, and that makes me happy.
