Fascinating. Lot of good research there. Kudos for your efforts and bringing some peace to the family. FWIW, that sheath doesn't look like it was carried every day for 50 years.

I agree ... I suspect Wayne had a special blade pocket sewn into his boots to carried the knife without this sheath.
