Maybe they hybridized and sort of disappeared like the Neanderthal.

Negative. All we have in the desert southwest and expanding. All I deal with. Hell on local beekeepers who do need genetically clean bees to truck to CA....

My bee keeping friends have gone to much more aggressive bees to deal with hive parasites.

Beetles and moths are less of a problem...as well as veroa mites.

Yes. Africanized bees are thriving, cause we don't [bleep] with them. It's that simple....

They are also their own security system...grin...

But liability is is a huge deal over here. Things and humans die over here weekly in the summer due to bee attacks from their bees under their pet hive under the backyard shed that they have been letting live to pollinate their Home Depot planted orange tree. It's a true circle of circlejerkness....

Watch the Killer Bee guy on YouTube. He exaggerates a bit for the cameras bit thats what I do, 15x a day in the busy season. Those are our bees.

Wasps are very beneficial.

They are good garbage men, good predators and important pollinators.

Maybe.

But those guys attack in swarms and like to nest in unfortunate places.

You sterilize the landscape and remove all of the beneficial insects and then you have to start hauling in bees.

So farmers are at fault?

So farmers are at fault?

In some respects yes, but by necessity.

The current model of production agriculture is predatory and more than likely untenable.......and probably even Norman Borlaug wouldn't recognize it.

This interests me.

I have long been against "organic" because it results in failure, if you look at the math.

Go on.

Well...organic doesn't produce as much as "normal" farming.

Grain seems to he a big issue....ask Poland.

We have the "grain basket" and modern farming has made it very efficient.

We sell grain, based on agricultural principles, that optimize production and chemicals aid that.

Yeah, they actually don't aid that very well. In fact they hinder in most cases.

The world is "awash" in wheat.

We could cut US ag production in half and no one in the world, who we apparently are "morally" obligated to feed, would go hungry.

Strictly organic would be difficult for sure.

Regenerative principles....could do it in a walk.

I didn't say organic was impossible.

To my knowledge even Gabe Brown is not strictly organic.

No… turning petroleum into fertilizer, so that we can grow huge crops of No. 2 corn, that we turn into Ethanol to burn in cars, is what does not make sense. And that doesn’t even get into the excess fertilizer running into the rivers and deadzoning areas of the Gulf of Mexico. Or the vast amounts of pesticide and herbicide that are needed to grow the huge monoculture fields using the seed companies patented varieties that cannot live without the -cides. Or the waste of finishing cattle on corn instead of grass (which cattle process very efficiently). Or the sticking HFC into everything to add some semblance of flavor to over-processed food. American agriculture is a [bleep] system that is kept in a [bleep] place by Federal subsidies and [bleep] policies. I agree that fully organic is not the way to go, but there is a more efficient middle ground.
