I want to send my Sako barrelled action to H&M BlackNitride+ for their treatment/finish. Reading the UPS & FedEx rules, looks like they only accept firearms from FFL licencees now. Would I have to pay transfer fees for both sending and receiving? I had assumed it would be shipped directly from H&M to me, but now I don't know.
I originally planned to ship it insured USPS and pay H&M to ship it back directly to me by whatever method that they preferred. Talking to H&M, I was told they had fewer shipping losses with UPS and FedEx than with USPS.
It's an in-state deal; H&M is in Akron, OH and I'm near Jackson, OH. Would drive it up myself, but it's an eight hour round trip, so I'd rather someone else do the driving.
I'll spend what I need to to get it done; just want the money to be well-spent.
