I have never wasted a cent on lotto tickets. I can do arithmetic.

A couple of guys at work were big time addicts, to the point they could not keep gas in their cars to commute.

Last week, I was waiting in line at the customer service desk in Albertsons. The guy in front of me was cashing in lotto tickets. $520 Woopee. Then he mentioned, the winnings was off of $50 tickets.

I have to wonder how many tickets he has actually purchased.

A lot. I do the same from time to time. Believe me, I go in with the mindset im only gettin 2 50s. And ive been lucky(blessed??). But there were a few times I started chasin. It gets ya. I bought 3 50s. Duds. Damnit you know a winner is comin up! Go back quick hope you get the next tickets numerically. I ended up buyin 7 duds. Said F it and went back for one more. 8th one was a grand. Ya I won. But it coulda been 75 instead of a grand. Chasin will absolutely kill ya. Gotta set a "budget' and when you lose stop. Take the loss.

I was in a convenience store once when a guy up at the counter started scratching. The clerk just looked to the next person and made that transaction. The guy won two dollars and wanted two more scratch off. The clerk told him to go to the end of the line. He was mad but that was the only way the clerk was going to pay him.

Never bought a scratch off lotto ticket. Use to buy 4 power ball lotto tickets every Saturday, finally figured out I was just a looser.

On April 25, 1985 Oregon started their lottery with a scratch off game called, iirc, Pot of Gold with the grand prize being $1000.00.
I bought 6 tickets and became the very first grand prize winner of the Oregon lottery.

It was early 80’s…. I remember being inline with my mom at the grocery store and she started screaming…. She had bought a 1 dollar scratcher and won 10 grand lol. Big deal back then.

About 5 years ago, my in laws who are religious mega million or lotto something got enough numbers to win 100 grand…… I have bought some here and there….. I think I won 500 bucks one time…… I, like most gamblers estimate that I am even lol.

Never bought a scratch off in my life.
With odds being only one factor, the potential juice isn't worth the squeeze.
I'm not someone who is competitive. I DGAF if I "Win" if winning big is a couple hundred dollars. Very rarely.

The Mrs deals with lottery and selling tickets, it's astounding to see people throw
their money away. As Neal Bortz used to say, 'Lottery is a stupid tax".
Thefolks who needed every dime are the ones burning dollars.

We now have $50 scratch offs. Yeah, $50.
And they sell.

Recently a lady came in and ask the Wife if she could buy 1 roll of scratch offs,
Somethinb she and her dad had always talked about doing.

It cost her$600,
She "won' a bit over $200.

I do succumb to the lure of life changing money, probably burnt $25 dollars on the two big pots recently. It's like a movie ticket for me. $2, and over the next few days I ponder what one could do, businesses I could set the kids up in. College free and clear? 1000 acre plus plots of land in a select few states.

they are a loser's game. I don't participate. I am glad they have that Lotto in Florida, otherwise the poor would contribute nothing to the state budget.

Naw. I rarely play. I would estimate the amount I've spent on scratch off's in my life is under $200.

When the wife and I go out, sometimes we'll each throw $20 in the pull tab jar. We've actually been pretty lucky on $40. We came home one night with $850.

89' won couple boxes of of Ziti off a scratcher that someone gave me as a Xmas gift. Enough to buy a Coleman Williamsburg camping trailer. Got about 25 years out of it.
