Hello Everyone, I believe a little background information is in order. First off, I am extremely diabetic and have neuropathy in both feet. To complicate things I have an arterial bypass in my left leg running from my groin to just above my ankle. I have regular swelling in my left foot accompanied by throbbing pain. I have had this for about 3 1/2 years. I either clogs up or the vessel constricts and has to be corrected from time to time. On March 8th I had an angioplasty to expend a constriction and I'm not sure it worked. That brings me to my question. My left foot swells and is painful with anything but the loosest socks. The only ones I can wear are the funny looking surgery socks they give you in 3XX Large. I wear a size 10 wide shoe before all this. Can anyone recommend a comfortable sock that would be loose in my foot and shoes that are extra wide which are comfortable? The only shoes I can wear now and not be in throbbing pain are lined Crocs. I would like to be able to wear shoes that might look a little better for dining out and such. Thanks for any suggestions you might have, Rick

Custom molded shoes to fit your feet. With your medical problems, your insurance will pay most or all of the cost. Ask for sock recommendations from the same place. As you know, foot care is critical in your case. Doing it well may save your life.

Thank you for the advice. I’m in the process of making an appointment with a diabetic podiatrist. Rick

You're on the right track, follow his instructions. I too am diabetic with neuropathy in my feet, diabetic socks and Quad E shoes take care of my problems. I've learned to live with the numbness and tingling.

Yep, numbness and tingling I'm used to. My foot had virtually no circulation for 35 days before I found the vascular surgeon I have now. It is just alive enough to hurt and throb. My problems were caused by a quack vascular surgeon doing an angioplasty. Put stents in the wrong place and didn't prescribe any blood thinner. I'm now on three. I'm eligible for medicare in less than 4 weeks. I hope they will pay for the shoes and socks. As I understand it they are quite expensive. Thanks, Rick
