Well, during the heat of Covid it was required to stay at the hotel, so there was that. But again, back to fur coats.

See lots of them in Canada where they are worth the expense. We inherited what I think is a beaver of my mom's. It must weigh about 12 lbs and needs to be relined, so Cookie's not actually put it to good use. Rare locally, but a few about that monied folks have had custom made with coyote. Really fine looking and very warm. Only a few seconds of sunlight needed to elevate the temperature of fine fur.

It takes a ton of skins though to come up with matching pelts, so I understand the expense. Never been a trapper but have had up to 20 or so hides to market after a winter's worth of incidental shooting. I don't think there has ever been a matched pair in a batch.

I have a coat made out of a bison I shot during one of those winter hunts outside of Yellowstone about 25 years ago. I used to wear it when I went icefishing. Now that I live in TX I dont go icefishing but it is still pretty cool to have.

Pretty good actually. Got the preliminary drawings, measurements and sketches, and now just nailing things down. Thanks for asking!

You can’t give a mink coat away

Take it to a fly-fishing/tying conclave and part it out at about $20 for 10 square inches. It will be gone in short order.

Similarly, if one can ever score a polar bear hide, he can probably do $10 per square inch.

I have a mouton sheep "Eskimo Parka, made for me in Pt Hope in mid-70's. Saved my butt a couple times, but doesn't get much use anymore.

Right handy 1994-96 in Barrow.

Did use it fairly frequently during my 2010-2018 years in Kotzebue hunting on snow machine, or shee-fishing on the sea ice of the Sound..

Doesn't get cold enough to use down here, or if it does, I'm not going out!

A couple came to church last winter and the wife was wearing a red fox jacket. Probably one of the most beautiful coats I’ve ever seen. It was her mother’s back in ‘50’s and she’d had it redone (?) by a furrier and it was glowing like fire. There was a line of folks who wanted to see it and touch it. My wife wouldn’t let me go thru the line a second time…something about too much touching.

I moved Mom's mink jacket last night. She loved to wear it when she went out in really cold weather, said it was better than any other jacket she had ever owned.

I remember that gal in the fur jacket- - - -does she still get paid by the minute like she used to before she got old and ugly? Last time I saw her she was strolling down Dickerson Road in Nashville at 2:00 AM! Back then she could suck a golf ball through a garden hose!

I thought the beaver fur bikini would have been a bigger hit than it is…
