Wondering what the chances are a #1 barrel will tine up on a number 3 action? Figured someone here would have done or at least tried this? Withe the band swivel and front sight is improbable to fit through the head stock of my lathe.

Thanks Chris

Well the answer seems not likely I have 2 #3 actions here neither will time up and both are different one being a little less than a half turn and one a little more. I have a very nice 7x57 barrel here that I removed for a customer that wanted a 30-06 , the rifle was. Like new and was given to him by his father never understood it.

I kept the barrel with the thoughts of putting it someday on a #3 action ordinarily would be a pretty simple job but not being able to fit it through my lathes head stock with sight and swivel band what is the barrel worth? Has sights and had a AH forend is 22 inches long

Chris, why not un-sweat the band and sight base from the barrel, do what's necessary to fit it to your receiver, then re-solder them back on and re-blue?

Been there done that the front sight is a real bugger with out a doubt it will sustain some sort of damage

Looks like it would just be a shoulder bump which i may be able to accomplish with a live center

Its pretty nice I hate to bugger it up

Yeah I got to thinking a pin gauge in the muzzle and a drive dog against the chuck and a live center in the tail stock would get you there. Pray that it clocks before top dead center so a simple kiss on the barrel face suffices to allow it to come around to TDC. Always a big can of worms - the stuff never goes according to plans (hopes)!
