Agreed. I used one on a 7-08 for several years. Had a 140 AB run 2820'at the muzzle, sighted dead on at 215 so the hashes would line up with 300, 400, 450, and 500.

Sight it in a either 300 or 400 yards on the appropriate part of the reticle and you’ll be close enough on the other parts, assuming you pick the HV or LV magnification setting that suits your load.
