His death was not heroin-induced. Indeed on his post-mortem it was noted that there were no signs of intravenous drug use. What he died from was asphyxia from aspiration of vomit, after taking some of his girlfriend's sleeping pills - stronger than the ones he was used to - for the insomnia he'd been suffering.
His gf gave him too many pills. But alas... he took them.
