When grackles are in a group, they are referred to as a "plague".
I'm wondering is Grackles have anything good to contribute to the world.
From what I've gathered, all they do is empty bird feeders and harass every
other species that they come in contact with. I did a little bit of poking around
and found that their population is in decline. I've been feeding the birds for many
years and I think that I've seen more Grackles here than anywhere I've ever lived.
These bastards squawk at me every time I have the nerve to wander around in my
backyard.
I have a badass 1970's vintage Sheridan Silver Streak in .20 caliber. I went through
it a few years ago and replaced the internals so it shoots like a brand new gun.
I also put a Williams peep-sight on it. Putting that sight on it prolly doubled its value.
Anyone know if Grackles are considered a nuisance? It sure would save me aolt of
money when it comes to buying bird seed to run them off or get rid of them. Anyone???

I think they are under the migratory act. Same as ducks and doves. Except there's no season.

Back in 1979, my dad's best friend was the mayor of Alice Tx Crackles had made the oak trees around the Jim Wells County courthouse their roost, the smell from the chit would make you sick and puke. Ken the mayor my dad and I and several cops surrounded the court at night with shotguns and went to town. We killed thousands there were several piles of birds over 6 feet tall, that was some fun chit.

Smart. Now that you've announced it to the world, and there are considerable federal penalties involved, YES. DO IT. Let's see of the feds are watching!

I lived for killing starlings and grackles as a 8-10 year old kid. The starlings would come into to pick bird seed from under the bird feeder first. If I didn’t shoot one the grackles would run them off. The grackles were the trophy bird😂 usually I just went ahead and shot the starlings.

Same here. We had a bunch of big cedar trees that they roosted in, and I'd go through several boxes of 22's each spring just shooting grackles.

Grackles will also take eggs out of another bird's nest and lay their own in it letting the other bird raise it's young.

I don't think so. Cowbirds do that. Injuns thought that cowbirds nested on the backs of bufflers cuz they couldn't find their nests.

Yes, you're right. Thanks for reminding me. I'm seeing quite a few cowbirds around my feeders.

Up to a year in the federal slammer, and fines (google it you ownself, lazy fuqq).
The good news is that it isn't a felony, so when the sun again shines on your pale hide, you can still carry.
