Im considering selling a JM stamped marlin 336 but wasn't sure what the market value would be. It’s a great rifle but I am always grabbing other ones to hunt/shoot. Im the second owner, it has been shot but its in very good condition, bluing is still nice and shiny, there a few very, very minor surface rust spots that could probably be polished out with some know how. The rifle also has a 4x Marlin scope on it. Any ideas on market value?

What is it chambered for - oops I see it’s a 30-30. Which may be the most common chamber.

Last year at the Tulsa show there must have been north of 50, maybe 100 JM Marlins. All but two I saw were over $1,000 and up to $1,400. I put my high quality 35 Rem 336 JM for sale here and a few low live scum publicly expressed that my price was way to high. The price wasn’t as high as what I saw in Tulsa.
I recently did a search on Guns International and saw some as low as $850. I didn’t look to see quality though.

Like I said. use post images due to the issues you are having. You'll get much higher quality pictures too. But thanks for posting what you could. Your rifle looks good. You might next go to Guns International and try to find rifles that are similar to yours.

One way to lower the file size is to open in paint and decrease size and save.

I just looked at Guns International and the prices went from $675 to $1,500. for the ones I saw. you need to see what condition they are in and compare to yours. I've found that Guns International is a good place to start.

My opinion for what it's worth $700 it would move quickly, higher it might set a while.

Nice looking rifle. My JM 30-30 is very accurate. I imagine yours would be also. I’m thinking that since many shooters/hunters want the JM Marlins and since the new Marlins are quite expensive (in my opinion) you should be able to get $1,000 for your rifle. This time of year rifle sales are slow. A month or two before deer season deer rifles sell much faster.

The Marlins have cooled off some in my area. Nice JM 336's were bringing $650 to $750 pretty easy a year ago at the shows, but $650 is a slow sale this year. I guess prices really do vary regionally, but I'm talking actually prices I see them move here and not asking prices.

The time of the year makes a difference. This time of the year rifle prices are down. Wait until before deer season, the prices will be up.

That's a $900-$1000 rifle for it's vintage and condition.
If that Hammer Spur has a circled "JM" on it, then even better.
A collector who wants a nice rifle with a period-correct Marlin scope would look a long time to find a nicer one.
I was in a LGS today and a 90% condition Marlin Glenfield 30AS was priced at $895.
Hold out for the right buyer later this Fall.

That's an 800.00 + rifle any day of the week nowadays.
Just the JM hammer spur and round sight hood is over a hundred dollars if you had to replace it with original ones.

Looks to be a 336 SC model which are a little harder to find.
