Phenomenal guitarist. I was fortunate enough to see him live a few times. Memorable shows!

He was one of the founding members, pretty sure Duane wasnt walking around all by himself saying he was the Allman brothers band.

They were huge in our house, being from middle ga the ABB can be shoved down your throat at times, I definitely took a break from them when needed.

I've seen him twice.

Curious if they'll do his service in Macon, I made sure I was able to sign the guest book at Gregs. I swear Macon about stopped for a week, expect the same this time if they do.

“In Memory of Elizabeth Reed” and “Les Brers in A Minor”, both deserve a listen. His contributions to that group, in MANY ways, are more than he gets credit for… The jazz and country influences, getting back together in the late 80’s (He brought in Haynes and Woody), keeping things together while Gregg was a drunken coked-out mess (1971-late 90’s).

“……people down in Georgia come from near and far, to hear Richard Betts pickin’ on that red guitar….”

I guess I forgot Gregg died. He attended high school at Castle Heights in Lebanon, TN. It's now a city building, but they still have the old class photos hanging in the hallway. I was looking for a guy I worked with in the pics one day, and was surprised to see Gregg Allman in the same pic!

Only time I saw him he was so F’d up he couldn’t finish the second set. Ended up being a Warren Hayes show which kinda redeemed it.

Eat A Peach Mr. Betts.
