Just picked up a used but not abused 7600 in 30-06, almost by accident.
I’d like to hear what ammo other members who own this rifle use? I’m good with buying a couple different boxes to try, just checking if their’s a consensus winner of any different ammo manufacturers or bullet weight. I’d rather shoot a cup in core 150-165gr bullet but wouldn’t hesitate to shoot a premium type bullet if that’s what it likes.
This will get fed factory ammo so let me know what your 760/7600 in ‘06 likes, I appreciate the info.

150 gr Core-Lokt

That's a good start, 165 gr factory loads don't grow on trees around here but that would be next then 180 gr pointed Corelokts and Hornady whitetail hunter ammo. Whatever weight from 150 to 180. Mb

For deer the basic factory ammo bullets work well. I like the 165 in the 30-06 but it seems that opinions are about evenly spread between 150, 165, and 180 grain. I got rid of my Rem 760 due to the recoil with 180 grain bullets. For some reason the guns recoil hard for me. Even the 165 seemed heavy.

For deer any decent 150-180 gr would work well. I handload 150 grain partitions for mine

The only factory ‘06 ammo I ever fired was 180gr Core-Lokt, albeit in a J.C. Higgins M50. Killed my best buck with it with a shoulder shot that didn’t exit (no doubt one of the “new” CLs without the belt). Total bang-flop. My standard ‘06 load is a handloaded 150gr NP at .308 speed, presumably about 2800. If forced to use factory now, I’d start with the ever-popular Federal blue-box. Never tried it, but it sure gets a lot of love here.

Mine shot good with most anything but liked 180 core-lokt round nose, and 180 Nos. Part. I hunted mostly thick woods but killed my farthest deer with the RN at about 250 yds out of 7600 carbine.

180 RN were made for the 760/7600. Fudd approved.

Got some 150gr Core-lokt and Hornady American Whitetail ammo to try. Base/rings should be in later this week as well. Hopefully it’ll shoot one of these well, if not, I’ll try something else.

180 grain roundnose core lokt, or federal 180 grain power shok

Remington 180gr RN core lokt is all you ever need.
