Well done - seems as though you surely have earned this great freedom and enjoyment. Your plan to be active is excellent and will serve you well.

In retrospect, I finally just traded a bunch of organizational leadership responsibility for the challenge of how to best use each hour/day/week of the time remaining. The drive to accomplish does not diminish, but the change of focus has been very rewarding.

I retired in 2007. Left the very next day for a safari in Africa. I worked (taught Jr. & Sr. High school mathematics) for 32 years and retired at age 57. Highly recommend it!!

I took the last walk to the parking lot from my phone company job on the exact same day I hired on 30 years earlier. Officially retired at age 48, took me all of one day to settle into retirement, and that's been 22 years now. .
Congratulations to you, enjoy all you have and have left, it's a great life we have.

I retired this year as well but not by my own choice. It’s still good and glad I am in a position to do so but not getting to do it when I wanted vs. no other option took the feeling of accomplishment away for me.
