Tomorrow, I have to take that walk.
The one that's made me misty just thinking about for the last 21 years.

I'm gonna shake hands with a good young man, solid Christian, worker,
hunter and obsessed fisherman. (I like him.)
Then I have to give away one of the most important things I've ever done, or had.

Her cat, who usually only plays with me, jumped on me and laid down purring.
I think he senses my mood. Really wish I hadn't started this post, it's getting worse, not better.

What a puss!
Wouldn't post it, but to hide it would be even more pussified.

Gonna be glad for the craziness tomorrow, but I'm dreading the drive home tomorrow night.

Sounds like she got a good one. Congrats. I am a total sapp when it comes to stuff like that.

I had that privilege a year and a half ago. Held up pretty well until my daughter requested a dance. She played one of my favorite songs. I lost it. I didn’t know she had it planned.

Congratulations to you and your family!

I’m sure that my father in law (RIP) thought little of me when I married his most cherished “possession” but as the decades rolled by we became closer than ever. I was the only person he could remember the last year or so and I cried like a baby when I took the call from the doctor that we’d been expecting. I loved him as if he were my own father and I KNOW that he loved me!

Proving to him that I was worthy of taking the hand of his greatest treasure is one of my greatest achievements..I make sure everyday that I continue to earn that honor despite him being gone almost 4 years now…

Dbuck - big congrats. Your Op is quite telling, and rest assured there are other guys out here who know your thoughts and feelings tonight. We've been through the moments - 3 times in my case.

It will go beautifully and help you remain a happy and satisfied Dad.

Update!

We were at the church working after the rehearsal, and my daughter brought me her phone, "It's for you". Since she is the only one with service, her To Be called her to get me.

"Karl, can you get away from her?"

I'm thinking " OH crap, he is so worked up he wants to bail."
I know he hadn't eaten all day, had crapped his heart out, and had been on the verge of dry heaves.

Instead he ask about my Night Before the Wedding, how scared/worried I was.
How I got through it, did it. This kid is admirably solid, better than I at 20 by far.
But he gets worked up easy, worries about what people think, is terrified of letting them down. And scared to death of screwing up tomorrow.

Stuff that was not a problem for me, I was way more afraid of the lifetime commitment.

We talked, I hope I gave him some comfort.

Congrats! What a blessing these days that they're making it legal. If time has to March on be happy when it's marching in a good direction.

I’ve done it twice, very hard, but have two superb son in laws that are outstanding fathers and husbands. Both married I’ve 20 years.

I gave away best friend’s daughter, he passed away at 50. That was more difficult than mine for me.

My grandaughter that you all have see grow up since 7 is engaged. My son-in-law is gonna have to take that walk before long. She turned 21 yesterday

I pray they live a long happy life together
