Not the first state to do so. Who I do like is they can do it without coworkers knowing.

After the Columbine shootings the state of Tennessee decided that every school had to have a crisis intervention team. Sounds like a solid step forward until you realize that the team members were not allowed to have any firearms. I was on that team and it felt like I was supposed to tackle a threat empty handed. I did keep a ball bat in the corner by my desk for 10 years.

Colorado middle school my children attended had at least one firearm at the ready, and this was before Columbine.

Every state, school in the nation should have armed teachers. Gun Free Zones are the problem.

We can't even trust our teachers to teach the fundamentals without pushing their Liberal agenda, indoctrinating our youth into the Transgender community, force feeding them CRT bullschit, project 1619 and having school board members taking their oath on a stack of LGPTQFAG pornography and you Trust them with a firearm watching over your kids. I like the idea of requiring a carry permit and at least 40 hours of training. I do not understand why the staff would not be allowed to carry at events staged in stadiums, gyms, or auditoriums. Those places are exactly where many shootings take place.

Ol Mike, if I was wanting to shoot up a place and kill people I would look for a Gun Free Zone.

The liberal principals in most of the schools will probably kill the requests within their school anyway.

Now there will be even more domestic terrorist parents at school board meetings

The bigger question here is do you want to give your children a better chance of coming home to you should a catastrophic situation occur, by having qualified armed staff in the building to somewhat thwart or stop a tragedy should it arise? I know what my preference is/would be!

Actually I’m in favor of the training requirement, we require our Cops to be trained, why not training for a teacher, where, if they do shoot, it would be part of a deadly force interaction with lots of minors and later First Responders arriving on the scene.

The thought process of protecting a school from a tragic shooting usually relates to an outside threat that has gained access. That is a pretty clear scenario to justify arming teachers and the use of deadly force.

Where things will get cloudy is when joebob or Demetrius, a student setting at the desk in their regularly scheduled class, decides to take the teacher on one on one. In a room full of hostile witnesses.
