...at the Augusta, GA mall this afternoon when a shooter lit things up. She said they hit the floor and belly crawled to a nearby restroom to hide. There was 1 person hit and he took himself to a hospital. She said they've caught the shooter although the news reports say they're looking for him. They haven't said much yet but I get the impression it was between 2 people rather than a random mass shooting.

We had a similar situation in a Mall on Indy's southside, some miscreant entered the food court armed with two assault rifles and a handgun. Went into the rest room and assembled the assuault rifles which he'd carried in a backpack and came out shooting. Killed a Mexican couple and wounded another woman, a 20yr. old with a CCW ended the carnage. At a range of 40yds. he put 8 out of 10 shots into the perp ending his shooting spree. I'm carrying whenever I go to the Mall if only to have a means of defending myself and the wife. It has become a scary world out there, never know who's planning what or where, Boy Scout motto applies "Be Prepared" !

I have few occasions to be in a crowded group, but I've decided its time to start carrying, for a number of reasons. This adds to it.

So far there is almost no info at all that's been released. There's no description of any kind on the shooter or the victim.

Glad they are safe. Outside Augusta National, that city is just plain dirty and crime ridden. Used to go up almost every weekend to work on and test my race car 30 years ago and it was bad then.

Assault Rifle requires a rifle with select fire capabilities, (Semi and full auto or burst auto), and a removable, magazine fed cartridge of intermediate length.

The perp in that instance had a Sig M400 (semi-automatic, not an assault rifle), S&W M&P AR-15 (semi-automatic, not an assault rifle) and a Glock - not even a rifle much less "assault rifle".

I used to go the Galleria Mall in Hoover fairly regularly. A couple of shootings in the mall and the parking deck the last few years have put it on the no go list for me now. The last few times I was in there the "clientele" had much different melanin levels than before and average jean waist height had dropped by 12 inches.

We really, REALLY, need Constitutional carry or at a minimum full reciprocity in all 50 States and US Territories.

I had occasion this weekend to be traveling in a State that does not recognize the permits I have. And while there I had occasion to visit a large mall type deal to get a new pair of sandals, of a brand I've never tried on. Don't like to buy shoes/sandals/boots of a previously untried style online without first having tried them on. And we have no shoe stores in our area carrying these type things.

I felt rather naked being unarmed in a mall. At least they had one pair of sandals for me to bring home.

Same here, except I’ve been carrying all the time since I retired 14 years ago. Got one on my belt while sitting here on my reclining couch, and after I shower and put on my sweat pants, it goes in the pocket of those. Except for the rare trips into government buildings where carrying could get me into real trouble, I ignore all those gun-free zone signs, and here the worst trouble that can bring is a simple trespassing charge, and that only if I get caught and refuse to leave.

I was in my bank a few years back dealing with the manager and mentioned their no guns policy. She smiled and said hers was in her purse…….
