They told me priority and ground go in the same container, priority is a waste of money!

2 years ago, shipped 3 boxes and a Christmas card on Dec. 9

The boxes arrived, 900 miles later after 6 weeks. The card took 6.5 weeks.
Had a member here 2 months mail me a scope. after a week USPS sent a message that it was lost. 3 weeks later it arrived.

USPS has just made the decision to process ALL the outgoing mail from Reno Nevada in Sacramento Ca.
Their justifiction is that most of the mail goes out of the Reno area anyway.
Their standard is 2 day delivery in the local area.
So a letter mailed in Reno will go to Sacramento first, then back to Reno.

FLY IN THE OINTMENT- I-80 has a major mountain pass (Donner Pass) 30 Miles west of Reno that closes several times per year, sometimes for more than one day.
All the politicians have objected, to no effect.
Starts 1/1/25 unless there's a last minute change.

Slow? Last rifle I ordered was near new when it shipped. By the time it arrived, it was an antique. 😳

When it shipped, it required delivery to a regular FFL. By arrival, it was C&R eligible. 😏

I have had something go from Kentucky to Colorado and the here to Pennsylvania, an extra week in the system.

I had a package from Midway USA come to Harrisburg, PA then to New Jersey then to Lancaster, PA, then to Harrisburg again before heading north to central PA.

I have had things only scanned when accepted at the sellers location and then not scanned at all until arriving at our local Post Office.

Most times the PO can't tell where a package is.

I made some parts for a rare gun slide and shipped them in a smfrb to my buddy who works for a post office in Colorado. Tracking showed it in Denver in 2 days and then Nothing.
Waited and waited , 3 weeks later it was scanned in......Drumroll.....Puerto Rico ! Sent back to Denver and finally to destination after 2 more days almost 5 weeks from ship date, and we both were sweating it due to the value and scarcity of the parts....

There is not room here to tell all of my USPS horror stories.
Gotta say that I just dread seeing the tracking info for any package showing that it arrived in the St. Louis regional facility. That place is a black hole for packages.

And for all the complaining I read here, I recently sent a package that took only 3 days from ND to Long Island, New York.
USPS priority flat rate medium box. For me it is the way to go, and sometimes faster than expected.
In my rural area, I can go 2 miles to the Post Office, it is at least 30 miles to a larger town, and UPS does not make it easy.
UPS likes to throw things around anyway.

I feel your pain. The USPS (US Postal Circus) is going to "regional distribution centers" and they are all failing. There's only one processing plant in WV and now originating mail will be shipped to PA to be cancelled and then sent back. Most workers are temps now led by supervisors with no knowledge how mail moves (or doesn't now).

last year was looking out the window towards mail box.
we are on a motor route in a neighborhood of 70 homes.
The temp placed a medium mailer full of rifle brass ON THE GROUND , in front of mailbox on the street.

I caught up with her and said that mailers typically have value inside , money !
The next week she got out and brought a SMALL mailer to the door even tho it would have fit in the mail box.
I asked her why and her reply was " you said there is money in them"

We had a niece send us a Christmas card from Luxembourg and we did not receive it until over two years after she was back in the United States.

I bought a Contender barrel from Minnesota. The seller shipped on March 26th. It was delivered on April 19. I also had my mail carrier leave a package containing a stock I bought here in the middle of the road in front of the mailbox. Fortunately my lawn guy noticed it a brought it back to safety.

They are getting worse and worse. It is a real handicap for people like me that live in rural areas and don't have easy access to a UPS or FedEx facility. Of course they are the only option for individuals shipping firearms anyway. This is the inevitable consequence of a couple of decades worth of diversity hiring.

I must be extremely lucky . I ship a lot of stuff USPS and unless you ship on a holiday weekend , it arrives on time.

Usually my experience also.... about the only Priority I buy is a Flat Rate box.....

I have found that packages often get to the buyer quicker than their check gets to me. ??????

I recently had a package go back and forth between two facilities three times. Finally arrived a week and a half late.

I’ve also had some crazy service from USPS recently. I recently mailed a package from MN going to TX. Took a detour first to NJ before heading back to Texas. Arrived two days late.
On a recent purchase, I mailed payment via Priority Mail only to have it sit in Minneapolis for 3 days before it started its journey to MA. That one arrived 4 days late.
