I hope his parents don't have to go jail for giving him access to a firearm. Somewhere up there in yankee land some parents ended up in jail for their kid having access to a gun he shot some people with.

All of my kids had access to guns.

My buddies and I used to bring guns to school almost everyday day during pheasant season and I had my .22 pistol in my trapping pack when I would run my trap line. Never really used it…but it was there if I was attacked by wolves or bandits…or cottontails.

Well it sounds like the kid had this planned for awhile. Stole a car and a family rifle and headed to the school. Got to a cafeteria window and tried to break it with the butt of the rifle and then shot the window out to gain entry. A school resource officer was there and ended up in a shootout with the kid before he could crawl in the window. Dozen or so shots and the kid ended up dead outside.

I asked my son if he had it all under control there and he said it seems like they handled it pretty well. They had the school kids detained into the evening before they were allowed to be released to parents. Police had to search the grounds for a possible second shooter and interview all the kids about what they knew.

Kids can kill too.

I remember one young boy, maybe around 12 years old, that decided to shoot at a game warden and the backup he called as he was just patrolling by the boy's house.

That boy had a .22 rifle and kept law officers pinned down for awhile, shooting at them the whole time. The boy was shot and killed.

A bullet doesn't know who fires it. Kid, adult, criminal, or anyone else... it can be just as deadly, no matter who fires at it.

Glad the kid at the school was stopped before more damage was done.

His social media account mentioned/referenced Columbine and Sandy Hook, which I believe has since been taken down.

Said he was shot when he pointed the pellet rifle at LEO.

My Crosman .22 pellet gun killed a truckload of birds, rabbits and squirrels back in the late 1950s, and I'm pretty sure human targets would have been injured, disabled, or killed if I had chosen to shoot at them from close range. Just because the projectile isn't launched by powder doesn't make the weapon "less than lethal" under most circumstances.
