The older you are when diagnosed, the better off you are.
Like posted by others, it’s manageable. Something else more likely to take you out than that.

We met with the Doctor today. 11 of the 20 samples were cancer. They are waiting a DNA test to come back to see how aggressive is. Three week wait. Your cancer all better?
If you are not actively engaging EVERY enemy you encounter... you are allowing another to fight for you... and that is cowardice... plain and simple.

We met with the Doctor today. 11 of the 20 samples were cancer. They are waiting a DNA test to come back to see how aggressive is. Three week wait. Cancers are anaerobic, which means they thrive on sugar and starches. Expressed seed oils (corn/canola/sunflower/etc.) are also extremely carcinogenic. Most low-starch dietary fiber, like cabbage, are consumed in the lower GI by gut bacteria, which, in turn, produces lactic acid, which will attack the cancer. Autophagy, is the body's protein recycling strategy when fasting. During prolonged fasts, > 3 days, the body sends out the vikings to destroy and reclaim any protein recognized as "not you." This includes most cancers. So: Quit ALL sugars and starches (which are simply folded, bonded sugar). Quit ALL expressed seed oils. Eat low starch Green fiber, eggs, and fatty muscle and organ meat. Fast for 3-4 days a week or longer. GR

I opted for hormone and radiation treatment rather than surgery. I have my last radiation treatment tomorrow. So far no serious complications.

I had it going on 21 years ago.
I was 46 at the time, yup 46.
Anyway, had my prostate removed, been cancer free ever since.
I had 10% of 1 sample that had bad cells.
Because of PSA testing, during yearly physicals, they caught mine very early.
My father's brother died of it. Because it ran in the family, especially on my father's side, I insisted on getting tested in my early 40s.
Saved my bacon.
If it's in your family, especially on your father's side, get tested. Had I waited, my outcome my not have been favorable, and I would have missed out on buying many cool rifles....lol !!
I know a surgeon who was diagnosed at 42. His father had it young, same deal.
Mine was classified as moderately aggressive, so out it came.
Best thing I've ever done.

My journey started almost exactly 1 year ago when I had slightly elevated PSA numbers in a routine physical. They had me come back in August to redo the tests and the numbers were still a little high.
They did a biopsy and other tests in September. My PSA was still pretty low, 5.2 IIRC. Gleeson score was 7 which is moderately aggressive. I had the prostate removed on October 10. The cancer had not gotten outside the prostate but was right to the edge in one spot. I'm glad I didn't wait any longer for the surgery. I've had 2 PSA tests done since and both came back "undetectable".
Doc said my prostate was in a difficult spot and the normal 2 hour surgery took 4. I spent 2 nights in the hospital. I had to keep a catheter in for 15 days which sucked. After getting it out I was able to do a most anything. I was a little weak from 2 weeks of sitting on my ass but felt fine otherwise. It took me a good month to my full strength and endurance back.
Most people will have urine leakage after surgery for at least 2-3 months, sometimes as much as a year and will need to wear pads. I had some complications come up in January. They cut the urethra to remove the prostate and sew it back together. I had scar tissue form inside the urethra, and it was blocking the urine flow. Doc said I was peeing through a pin hole. They did a procedure and unclogged my urethra. That was a 2nd surgery.
That meant another 10 days with the catheter and my healing time to stop leaking started over. By the 1st of April, 3 months after the 2nd surgery, I had almost stopped leaking. It's getting better and I'm hopeful that I can stop wearing pads completely in another few weeks.
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

Jmr,
I was very fortunate, in that I never leaked. I had no complications post surgery. I also had an excellent surgeon.
I'm thinking I had my cath in for 10 days. Actually didn't mind it, has no getting out of bed to piss.
I did make the mistake of getting the bag higher than my bladder, once.
Bladder works great pushing piss out, not too happy with it coming back.
Phfuuck that hurt.
