Tough on the profit margin to lose a perfectly healthy, well started calf. A buddy had a new born angus calf disappear from the pasture. A few weeks later he found remains on an island in the river along the pasture edge. The remains were under a tree. He surmised an eagle had carried the calf into the tree for a feast. But the Malhuer River is more of a creek at that time of year and location. I suppose it could have easily been a cat as well. But it sure was not 120 lbs. People who choose to brew up their own storms bitch loudest about the rain.

This little mini is the 5th set and I think we have a sixth set still with the old cows. You watch for small calves out of mature cows when they come to the feed-line.
